About Magnolia Way Consulting
Independent property and real estate business consulting founded in Canberra, serving Australian owners and investors since 2014.
Magnolia Way Consulting was established in 2014 in Canberra to give property owners a place to think through holdings without the sales agenda of a brokerage. The registered business name is Magnolia Way Consulting Pty Ltd.
How we began
Founder Eleanor Whitfield spent fourteen years in commercial property management and agency support roles across the ACT and southern NSW before opening an independent practice. Clients kept asking for advice that sat between what an accountant could provide and what a selling agent would say. Magnolia Way was built to fill that gap: structured property counsel with no commission on transactions.
What we do today
We advise family investors, small syndicates, and owner-operators on portfolio alignment, acquisition sense-checks, and divestment preparation. Engagements are project-based rather than open-ended retainers, so clients know the scope and fee before work begins.
Our team
Eleanor Whitfield — Principal consultant. Former senior property manager with experience across retail strips, small office buildings, and residential investment portfolios. Holds a Bachelor of Property and Economics from the University of Canberra.
Marcus Chen — Associate consultant. Background in commercial leasing and tenant relations. Leads acquisition advisory engagements and site assessments.
Sonia Patel — Practice manager. Coordinates document intake, scheduling, and client correspondence. First point of contact for new enquiries.
Working approach
We read your documents before we meet. Sessions are structured around your stated objective, not a generic checklist. Recommendations are written in plain language with enough detail for your accountant or solicitor to act on. We do not accept referral fees from agents, valuers, or lenders.
Values we hold
- Independence from transaction commissions
- Honest assessment even when the news is inconvenient
- Respect for the time required to prepare a property properly for sale or refinance
- Clear scope and fixed fees agreed before work starts
Community
We sponsor the ACT Property Owners Network quarterly forum and contribute field notes on lease administration and portfolio planning for local investor groups.
